REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Somalia's security situation remained critical but without major escalation during the week of 7–11 September 2026. The Federal Government, with continued US airstrike support, including an 8 September strike near Quumbi in Jubaland, and intensified Somali Danab operations in Lower Shabelle, maintained pressure on Al-Shabaab, which continues to hold significant territory across Middle and Lower Shabelle in a long-running stalemate. Growing uncertainty over the future of US and AUSSOM support beyond 2026 remains a key structural risk to the durability of current security gains.
