Nigeria's conflict and peace picture during the week of 7–11 September 2026 was shaped by two contrasting dynamics: the surfacing of a previously undisclosed, roughly three-month ceasefire between the government and a Boko Haram faction around Ngoshe, Borno State, and an intensifying wave of bandit violence in Kaduna State that killed at least seven people and abducted more than 50 across Giwa and Birnin Gwari LGAs. While Joint Task Force operations scored a tactical success against bandit logistics networks, the scale of Northwest kidnappings kept the overall security trend critical.
