Nigeria's week of 28th September–2nd October 2026 was marked by the kidnapping crisis where at least 87 people, mostly women, were reported missing after two weekend mass abductions in Niger and Zamfara States, and Abia police recovered the remains of at least 28 people from suspected kidnap camps. President Tinubu returned from about four weeks abroad, dismissed health rumours and marked Independence Day with an address focused on the cost of living.
