The Central African Republic's peace and security situation from 6 to 12 July 2026 was critical. A coordinated attack by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces and former Séléka rebels on the MINUSCA base in Am-Dafock displaced more than 18,000 people and showed the regional spillover of the Sudan war. At the same time, attacks on humanitarian workers rose by 89%, suspected LRA elements abducted people at mining sites in Yalinga, and a cholera outbreak with a high death rate spread along the Ubangi River. The report also points to Wagner's control of gold mining and illicit trade as a form of "criminalized governance," while a pastor's call for President Touadéra to resign over his third mandate reflects rising political tension. The only positive development was the Yaoundé regional strategy to protect children in armed conflict, validated by 11 Central African states.
