REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Abstract / Summary

Justification: The reporting period witnessed a dramatic escalation of hostilities centered on El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, where the RSF has tightened its siege and intensified drone attacks on civilian infrastructure (Islamic Relief World, 2026). The UN Human Rights Council ordered an urgent inquiry into abuses, warning of an imminent risk of large-scale atrocities (United Nations, 2026). Reports indicate that thousands of people, including more children, have fled El-Obeid in the past weeks by the end of june. Meanwhile, the conflict has continued and killed at least thousands of people, displaced approximately 13 million, and pushed many parts of Sudan into famine (UN News, 2026). With million people in need of humanitarian assistance, the situation remains at a critical juncture with no meaningful de-escalation in sight.
