REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Niger's security situation remains critical, with ongoing terrorist and criminal activity across the country. Rival militant groups, including JNIM and Islamic State, are expanding their reach, increasing kidnappings and protection extortion while competing for territorial control. The kidnapping threat is severe, with a very high risk reported. While the military junta has cut ties with Western allies and aligned with new partners, the security reality for ordinary Nigeriens has deteriorated.
