Ongoing armed conflict in the east and a rapidly escalating Ebola outbreak. The Bundibugyo strain outbreak reached 6,843 confirmed cases and 3,310 deaths by 10 September, with a 48.3% fatality rate, making it the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record. Health authorities reported the outbreak had spread to 61 health zones across six provinces. Meanwhile, MONUSCO's head visited Rwanda for consultations on the eastern DRC crisis under the Washington Accords framework. A separate undiagnosed disease in North Kivu killed 8 people in 10 days, with 50+ hospitalized. Armed conflict between FARDC and M23 continued despite ceasefire agreements.
