REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICES (RPP) PROJECT

Somalia's week of 5–9 October 2026 saw no major fighting reported but significant political and humanitarian signals: a federally attended peace agreement in Balanbale (5 October), NISA's announcement that it killed former Amniyat chief Bashir Ahmed Haji Nunow in Jilib (6 October), a contested Al-Shabaab–Hawadle truce in Hiiraan, and FEWS NET's 7 October warning of a credible famine risk in southern Somalia through January 2027.
