REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Somalia's security situation remained critical but without major escalation during the week of 31 August–4 September 2026. The Federal Government, with continued US airstrike support and intensified Somali Danab operations in Lower Shabelle, maintained pressure on Al-Shabaab, which continues to hold significant territory across Middle and Lower Shabelle in a long-running stalemate. Humanitarian conditions remained strained by conflict-driven access constraints, drought impacts, and an active regional cholera outbreak.
