REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICES (RPP) PROJECT

Nigeria's week of 5–9 October 2026 combined ISWAP and Lakurawa assaults on military bases (Kukawa on 6 October, Maiyama on 7 October), machete attacks on communities in Benue and Plateau, and continued kidnappings, including three research-institute staff in Ibadan on 9 October. The army claims more than 36 attackers killed in the two base attacks; the Minna panel reported institutional failings in the NSCDC but needs until 21 October to finish. Figures are attributed to their sources because many are military claims or come from advocacy media.
