REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Ethiopia experienced critical security deterioration from 01–11 September 2026. Government drone strikes in Tigray continued with civilian casualties, while the TPLF publicly accused AU mediator Olusegun Obasanjo of bias, undermining peace prospects. In Oromia, ethnic violence between Oromo and Amhara communities killed more than 60 people and displaced 20,000. Human Rights Watch and civil society organizations issued urgent warnings about escalating atrocities and the collapse of the Pretoria Agreement's implementation. The federal government's public communications focused on development achievements rather than addressing the security crisis.
