REFLEXIVE PEACE PRACTICE (RPP) PROJECT

Mali's conflict situation deteriorated further during the week of 7–11 September 2026. On 10 September, JNIM overran the Malian army's Dioura garrison in Mopti region, one of the deadliest single attacks on Mali's military this year, claiming to have captured 93 soldiers and inflicting further losses on Russian Africa Corps personnel. Combined with the continuing fuel blockade on Bamako, the week underscored the depth of the security crisis facing the transitional military government, with no new peace process in sight and Western governments maintaining advisories to leave the country.
